On 24 July 2024, Arya received a threat from Khalistani extremists after speaking out against the vandalism of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Edmonton on 22 July 2024. Separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikhs for Justice demanded Arya and other Hindu-Canadians return to India. Arya later criticised the extremists for misusing Canadian freedoms and emphasised the Hindu community’s contributions to Canada.
