  • Challa Sreenivasulu Setty hails from a family of rural moneylenders in Telangana.

  • At the age of 12, Setty began spending his school vacations collecting debts for his fatherโ€™s grocery store in the village of Peddapothulapadu.

  • During harvest season, Setty would visit the 150 households in the village to collect money owed by farmers from earlier in the year. He and his brother each had a list of debtors and would go door-to-door to recover the cash.

  • He completed his bachelorโ€™s degree at a college in Rajendranagar, Telangana.

  • Setty joined the State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1988.

  • Setty was appointed as the Managing Director of the State Bank of India in Mumbai on 20 January 2020. He served in the position till 19 January 2023.
