Note: In 1992, Captain CR Leena was posted with the 3rd Battalion of the 5th Gorkha Rifles (3/5 GR) in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. On the night of 16 July 1992, CR Leena, along with her convoy of troops from 3/5 GR, was moving to the battalion's headquarters. En route to the headquarters, the convoy, led by Delta Company of 3/5 GR, came under heavy gunfire from the insurgents and inflicted casualties on the Indian Army. Being the battalion's Medical Officer (MO) CR Leena, without caring for her safety, provided medical aid to the wounded soldiers under a heavy volume of fire. This resulted in CR Leena saving many lives. On 15 January 1995, she was awarded Sena Medal (Gallantry) for her actions.
