Brett Lee is regarded as one of the best pace bowlers ever to have played the sport.
He is known worldwide for his consistency of pace (over 155 km/hr) throughout his career.
While growing up in Mount Warrigal next to Oak Flats, Brett Lee played for the Oak Flats Rats local cricket team along with his brothers Shane and Grant. He later played first-grade cricket for Campbelltown.

According to Brett Lee, his younger brother Grant was better than him and Shane; however, when Grant turned 18, he started losing interest in cricket following which his older brother Shane advised him he should quit the game, and Grant quit the game.

Brett Lee played his first official game of cricket at the age of nine.
He began playing first-grade cricket at the age of 16.
After he was included in the state U17s cricket team, he was interviewed by a reporter for the first time.
According to Brett Lee, by the age of 16, he had realized he wanted to become a fast bowler.
In an interview, he talked about his bowling action and said that in his 16 and 17, he used to bowl away, and it was Dennis Lillee who helped him change his bowling action that made him one of the legendary fast bowlers in modern cricket.

During the India tour of the Australian under-19 team in March 1994, he was forced out of the team due to stress fractures in his lower back and to minimize the impact on his back, he had to remodel his bowling action.
After impressive performances for the U-17 and U-19 Australian teams, he was included in the NSW squad for Sheffield Shield.
In his debut match against Western Australia, Brett Lee picked 3 wickets for 114.
At the age of 21, he was inducted into his state team, and at the age of 24, he was inducted into the Australian national team.
