Birbal Khosla was an Indian actor, who primarily appeared in Bollywood films. He died at the age of 84 due to a cardiac arrest in 2023.
During his college years in Jalandhar, he often watched films featuring Kishore Kumar , which inspired him to pursue a career in acting.
He made his first appearance in the film industry when director Ram Dayal provided him with an opportunity to feature in a single shot of the music video of a song from the film âRajaâ released in the early 1960s.
In the early stages of his acting career, he took on small jobs and worked for daily wages to make ends meet.
He gained popularity after playing the role of Baanchcharam in V. Shantaramâs 1967 film âBoond Jo Ban Gayi Moti.â

Birbal often credited Raj Khosla and Manoj Kumar for his success, given his appearances in many of their films, including âUpkarâ (1967), âMera Saayaâ (1966), âMera Gaon Mera Deshâ (1971), âRoti Kapda Aur Makaanâ (1974), and âKrantiâ (1981).
In 1970, he played the role of a circus surgeon in Raj Kapoor âs romantic drama film âMera Naam Joker.â
He is recognised for his role as a prisoner with a half-shaven moustache in the iconic 1975 Hindi film âSholay,â which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the lead roles.
