Some Lesser Known Facts About Bichu Devi Kharibam
In childhood, Bichu Devi wanted to become a football player but was not selected in local selections.
She decided to play hockey at her father’s insistence. It was her father who motivated her to appear for a selection camp of hockey.
In 2015, coach and Hockey umpire Napoleon Singh spotted her and suggested she train at Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in Gwalior.
In 2019, she was part of the Test series against France and Belarus.
In 2021, she was selected for the Indian team for the FIH 9th Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa, where India secured fourth place.
She is a devotee of Lord Shiva.
