Bansuri is the only child of Late Sushma Swaraj. She was brought up in New Delhi.

She was named after the signature music instrument of Lord Krishna; i.e., flute; as her mother was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna.
She practices in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
Since 2007, Bansuri has been practicing law. She handles mainly civil, criminal, commercial, and tax and constitution related matters. She is affiliated with and acts as a consultant to Legasis Partners.

On 24 March 2023, she made her entry into active politics after she was appointed as co-convener of the legal cell of Delhi BJP. Her appointment came into force with immediate effect. On her appointment, Ms Swaraj said,

On 27 September 2019, Bansuri paid a fee of Re 1 to Harish Salve , a lawyer, for his services in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ); this was reportedly the last wish of Sushma Swaraj to be fulfilled.
