Bal Dhuri is an Indian actor who is best known for playing the role of “Dashrath” in Ramanand Sagar ‘s Ramayan. He is also known for his work in Marathi films and theatres.
He belongs to a middle-class Marathi family.
Initially, his parents were sceptical about his decision to make a career in acting; however, Bal Dhuri was firm in his decision and went on to chose acting as a career.
Before entering the field of acting, he had worked as an engineer in a firm in Maharashtra.
Bal Dhuri has acted in more than 20 films and many Marathi plays.
It was Ramanand Sagar ‘s epic television series “Ramayan” that gave him the much-awaited success in his career.
After portraying “Raja Dashrath” in Ramayan, he became a household name in India.

He is such a versatile actor that he has essayed a wide spectrum of roles; from a 25-year-old to 86-year-old characters.
His on-screen wife in Ramayan, Kaushalya (played by Jayshree Gadkar) is, in fact, his real-life wife, and even before Ramayan, they had been married to each other.

Reportedly, when Ramanand Sagar called Jayshree Gadkar to his office to offer her the role of Kaushalya in Ramayan, Jayshree had accompanied her husband, Bal Dhuri, to Sagar’s office. Sagar noticed the aura of Bal Dhuri and gave him a choice to either play Meghnad or Dashrath in Ramayan, and Bal Dhuri chose Dashrath’s role.
He has also authored a book titled “Suvarn Nayika Jasyhree Gadkar,” which is based on the life of his wife, Jayshree Gadkar.
