Controversy SRA scam money laundering case: In 2014 Baba Siddique was suspected to be involved in money laundering the slum rehabilitation authority money. The enforcement directorate conducted a raid at five locations including Siddique's premises after an FIR was filled against Siddique and 157 others including some congress leaders for embezzling about Rs. 400 Crores. check sources

  • Baba Siddique was born in a middle-class family in Gopalganj, Bihar.

  • When he was five years old, he shifted to Mumbai with his father, where he grew up.

  • In 1977, while he was in college, he joined the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress as a student leader.

  • As a member of the Mumbai chapter of NSUI, Baba Siddique took part in various student movements.

  • In 1980, Siddique was appointed as the General Secretary of the Bandra Taluka of the Bandra Youth Congress.

  • Two years later, he was elected as the President of the Bandra Youth Congress.

  • In 1988, he was appointed as the president of the Mumbai Youth Congress.

  • During the Covid-19 period, Baba earned praise for supplying life-saving medicines to patients.

  • On 12 October 2024, Baba was assassinated by three armed assailants who fired several rounds of ammunition at him at around 9:30 at night while he was standing near his son’s office. Following his death, the shooters who carried out the attack claimed that they belonged to Lawrence Bishnoi ‘s gang. Two out of the three attackers were taken into custody by the Mumbai Police later.
