Ayaz Samoo was part of the acting and debate society of his school in Karachi.

While studying in school, one day Ayaz Samoo tried to mimic his teachers and other actors and singers. One of his teachers discovered his talent and offered him to perform in one of the school events and that’s how his journey began.
Ayaz Samoo’s career began with a music video in 2004 which was a version of Haroon and Fakhir’s ‘Aye Jawan’ being redone by some teenagers who were shooting outside Ayaz’s college.
While some teenage boys were shooting, Ayaz Samoo was walking away when one of the boys called him and asked if he wanted to model for their project. Ayaz agreed and was asked to come the next day at 8 am.
He reached the shooting site at 8 am but the entire crew of those teenage boys showed up in the afternoon at 1 pm.
Ayaz claims that humour comes naturally to him and was quoted saying in an interview that

Humour is everywhere. I just observe, people and things wherever I am. When I drive, I look at billboards, people on the street, the driver in front of me and just about everything.”
In 2006, Ayaaz Samoo took part in the Indian reality stand-up comedy TV series titled ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ where he represented Pakistan.
Ayaaz Samoo was selected out of 6,000 people who auditioned for the second season of ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ in 2006.
He was the ‘youngest champion’ on the show and didn’t win the competition but his successful appearance led him to participate in the third season of the show.
In 2007, he was asked to participate in the Pakistani stand-up comedy show ‘Super Karara’ and he won the title of ‘Karara King.’ The show was telecast on the Aaj TV channel.
In the same year, Ayaz Samoo created his YouTube channel and started posting vlogs on the same. His YouTube channel holds more than 63 thousand subscribers, as of 2024.
Ayaz Samoo participated in and gave successful performances on many Indian comedy shows and some of them include ‘Funjabbi Chak De’ (2007), ‘Comedy Champions’ (2008), ‘Comedy Club,’ and ‘Laugh India Laugh’ (2012).
In 2008, Ayaz participated in the Indian stand-up comedy show titled ‘Comedy Ka King Kaun’ which was telecast on the Sab TV channel. He beat 11 of the best Pakistani and Indian stand-ups including Rauf Lala, Kashif Khan, Saleem Afridi, and Bhagwant Mann on the show and won the title of ‘King of Comedy.’

Alongside comedy, Ayaz Samoo was a Video Jockey on ARY Musik where his alter-ego ‘Sajid Billa’ was born. He was quoted saying in an interview that

“The producers wanted an out-of-the-box idea. They wanted me to pull off a ‘tapori’ character but I was reluctant because it is an import! So I suggested a Mekrani-type rapper with a ‘yo-man’ personality. Hence Sajid Billa was born and became immensely popular.”

In 2009, he was cast in many Pakistani TV shows and some of them include ‘Gobar Singh,’ ‘Jhoot Bole Kawa Kaatay,’ ‘Gaddi Late Hai,’ ‘Masti Ki Paatshala,’ and ‘College.’
In the same year, he hosted the Pakistani comedy show titled ‘Sajid Billa a.k.a. Sajid DvD’ which was telecast on the ARY Musik TV channel.

In the same year, he worked in the creative team of the Pakistani comedy show titled ‘Joke Studio.’
In 2010, Ayaz Samoo was cast as a video jockey for the Pakistani comedy show titled ‘Eid on Demand.’

In 2015, Ayaz Samoo was cast in the Pakistani drama film titled ‘Moor’ in which he played the character of Imtisal Ahmad. The film was based on the railway system of Balochistan and the closure of Zhob Valley railways in 1984.

In 2016, he was cast in the Pakistani supernatural found footage horror film titled ‘Aksbandh.’ Ayaz Samoo was also one of the co-writers and co-producers of the film.

In the same year, he was selected as one of the performers for the Karachi Kings Family Festival.
If Ayaz Samoo didn’t pursue acting as his career, he would’ve become a physicist or an astronaut.
In 2017, Ayaz Samoo took part as a celebrity contestant in season 3 of the Pakistani reality TV show titled ‘Madventures’ which was the adaptation of the popular American reality show titled ‘Fear Factor’ (2001-2006).
