  • Atanu Das is an Indian Archer. He represents India at recurve men’s individual and team events.

  • When he was 14 years old, he started his training in archery under the Indian coach Mithu Da.

  • His father enrolled him in Tata Archery Academy, Jamshedpur in 2008. There, he did his training under the Korean coach Lim Chae Wong.

  • He once shared that when he started archery training, people around him used to compare him to various mythological characters like Arjuna and Karna and make fun of him.

  • At a very young age, he won various archery matches at district level and state level.

  • After making his international debut in 2008, he participated in various archery competitions like the Outdoor Archery Summer Olympic Games, Archery World Cup, Asian Games, Asian Outdoor Championships, National Games, Olympics, and Junior National Archery Championships.

  • In 2016, he was selected to represent India at the Rio Olympics in the Recurve Men’s Individual Event.

  • In an interview, he shared that while he was training at Tata Academy, he met the Indian archer Deepika Kumari for the first time. Initially, due to their language barrier, they did not talk to each other. However, later, while practising together, they started talking to each other and became good friends. In 2017, after they lost the World Championships in Mexico City, Atanu proposed to her, and they started dating each other.
