Ashok Selvan is an Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He has gained fame for his roles in the films âSoodhu Kavvumâ (2013), âPizza II: Villaâ (2013), and âThegidiâ (2014).
During his college years, Ashok Selvan actively engaged in creating and directing short films. One of his works, âGreen,â received the Best Film award at the International Tamil Thoth Conference in Singapore in 2012. After completing his college education, Ashok auditioned for Tamil films such as âInidhu Inidhuâ produced by Prakash Raj and â19th Stepâ directed by Bharat Bala but faced rejection. He then ventured into the film industry as an assistant director under S. J. Suryaâs guidance and received a minor role in Suriya âs film â7aam Arivuâ in 2011 where he portrayed Suriyaâs friend, although his scenes didnât make it into the final edit.
In 2012, a childhood photo of Ashok Selvan was used to depict a younger Ajith Kumar in the film âBilla 2.â Despite an unsuccessful audition for the Tamil film âPizzaâ the same year, director Nalan Kumarasamy launched him in a TV commercial and cast him as Kesavan in the black comedy film âSoodhu Kavvumâ in 2013 alongside Vijay Sethupathi , Bobby Simha , and Sanchita Shetty .
