He got involved in criminal activities while growing up, and he was once burglarizing a train between Ujhani to Soron on the Kasganj Bareilly-Farrukhabad railway section when he shot dead Naveen Chaudhary, a GRP (Government Railway Police) official.
According to some media reports, he was arrested in February 2022 by Panipat Police for illegal possession of a gun.
When the police questioned him, he revealed that he liked keeping guns and bought the gun for Rs 3000 from a resident of Kadarvadi, Kasganj named Atul.
Police arrested Arun and Atul and sent both of them to jail.
When he got released from jail on bail, he got into an argument with a person who he assaulted and absconded to Kadarvadi. Reportedly, his hand was fractured when he assaulted the person.

When the police apprehended them on the spot, they shouted Surrender and Jai Sri Ram.
During the initial interrogations, Arun and his aides revealed that they wanted to become popular by killing the notorious Ahmed brothers and wanted to make a name in the crime world.

Interestingly, the infamous killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal happened in 2005, and that is the same year when Arun Maurya was born. Also, the manner in which the Ahmed brothers were killed reminded people of the curse of Raju’s widow Pooja Pal who had said after her husband’s killing that Atiq and his family would also die in the same fashion as her husband. check sources Dainik Jagran
