On 19 August 2017, at around 11:15 am, Arjit Lavania, his co-actor Gagan Kang and a crew member were travelling to Umbergaon, Gujarat where the set of Mahakali is located. The car was hit by a trolley on the Mumbai – Ahmedabad Highway. They were rushed to the Manor Hospital, where 3 of them were declared dead.
In the initial investigation, the Police said that Kang was driving the car and was over speeding as per the indications displayed on the car. Police also said that their might be a possibility of ‘drunken driving’ as beer cans were found in the vehicle.
