Some Lesser Known Facts About Anmol Narang
Anmol Narang is a second-generation immigrant in the USA. Her parents had migrated from Punjab (India) to the USA in the early ’90s.

While Anmol was in high school, she, along with her parents, went to visit the Pearl Harbour National Memorial in Hawaii, where for the first time she learned about the unfortunate event of Japan bombings in the US naval base at Pearl Harbour. These learnings strengthened her motivation to serve in the United States Army, subsequently, she sent her application for the entrance to the United States Military Academy at West Post.
In an interview with the New York Times, Narang said, that her paternal grandfather had served in the Indian army, therefore to serve in the military was naturally in her blood, and becoming a part of the army had been her prime ambition.
She is the first observant Sikh in the US Army; it implies that she is the first Sikh who will be following certain tenets of Sikh religion while serving in the US Army, like keeping long-uncut hair. It was in 2017, that the US army reformed some of its rules administering religious freedom.
Narang has successfully attained the post of Second Lieutenant in the US military. Henceforth, Narang will complete her Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma, before assuming her initial posting at Okinawa, Japan in January 2021.
On 14 June 2020, The US President, Donald Trump delivered a speech at the 2020 graduation ceremony at the United States Military Academy. Narang was among the 1,107 graduates who gathered for the academy’s annual commencement.
