Ankit made his first-class debut in 2012 for ‘Uttar Pradesh’ in ‘2012-13 Ranji Trophy’ against ‘Karnataka’ at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, in which he picked total three wickets in both innings.
After being impressed with his performance in ‘2012-13 Ranji Trophy’ season in which he took 31 wickets in just 7 matches, ‘Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) bought him twice for the 2013 and 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions.
In 2016, he got the chance to play for ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) for the 2016 IPL auction and they bought him for Rs. 1.5 crore.
He has also represented ‘India A’ as a practice bowler in 2017 South Africa tour.
In 2018, ‘Kings XI Punjab’ bought him for Rs. 3 crore for the 2018 IPL auction.
He along with his wife Maahi Singh appeared on Gionee’s ‘Kouple Goals.’
In December 2024, after retiring from Indian cricket, he announced that he would continue to play in foreign T20 leagues.
