Some Lesser Known Facts About Anjum Rehbar
Anjum Rehbar is a renowned Indian poetess. She writes in Urdu and Hindi languages. She is best known for being the first wife of the Urdu poet and Bollywood lyricist Rahat Indori . She specializes in singing ghazals and geets as her chosen musical genre.
Anjum Rehbar started attending Mushairas and Kavi Sammelans in 1977. Subsequently, she started participating in many poetry shows on national television channels such as ABP News, SAB TV, Sony Pal, ETV Network, and DD Urdu. In 2013, she appeared on a show called Wah! Wah! Kya Baat Hai! on SAB TV. She often performs her poetry on Doordarshan.

Rahat Indori and Anjum Rehbar got married in 1988; however, they divorced in 1993. After their divorce, Rahat Indori got married for the second time, while Anjum opted to remain single.

Once, in a media talk, Anjum Rehbar’s son, Sameer Rahat talked about the poems of his parents. He said,
My parents (Rahat Indori and Anjum Rehbar) are arguably the biggest Urdu poets in the country, and you get influenced by them on a daily basis. Writing songs for others is when your waters are tested.”

On 7 August 2023, Anjum Rehbar joined the Indian National Congress in Madhya Pradesh in the presence of Kamal Nath , the president of the INC Madhya Pradesh unit. After joining INC, she revealed in a media interview that she had previously focused on writing poetry but also had a desire to serve society.
