Anirudh is the son of Tamil actor Ravi Raghavendra.
He is the nephew of superstar Rajinikanth.
He started composing music at the age of 10.
He made his debut at the age of 21 in the Tamil film 3 as a music composer.
He has been inspired by the music of A. R. Rahman .
During his school days, he participated in a music-based reality show Ooh La La La as part of a Carnatic fusion band called Zinx.
He learned classical piano from Trinity College of Music, London.
During his college days, he was also a part of the funk rock band named Circuit.
In 2011, his song Why This Kolaveri Di became an instant chartbuster.
YouTube honored the video of the song Why This Kolaveri Di with a Recently Most Popular Gold Medal Award and Trending Silver Medal Award for receiving a large number of hits in a short time.
In 2013, he won the Vijay Award for Best Find of the Year for his work in the film 3 (2011).
Filmmaker M. Shyam Kumar offered him the lead role in his upcoming Tamil comedy film Aakko, but he rejected the offer as he has no plans to act in films for now.
