Anil Dhawan was born and raised in a Punjabi family.
He did his diploma in acting from FTII (Film and Television Institute of India), Pune along with the actress Jaya Bachchan; where he was junior to actor Navin Nischol.
Anil started his acting career in 1970.
He has appeared in a number of Bollywood movies like âDo Rahaâ, âPyar Ki Kahaniâ, âHaar Jeetâ, âPiya Ka Gharâ, âHoneymoonâ, âGhulam Begam Badshahâ, âSone Ka Pinjraâ, âShikaarâ, âHimmatwalaâ, etc.
Anil is still remembered for his bold scenes with an actress Rehana Sultan in his debut movie âChetnaâ.
Apart from working in films, he has also worked in few Hindi TV serials like âHeenaâ, âMein Laxmi Tere Aangan Kiâ, âTum Bin Jaaoon Kahaanâ, âRoop â Mard Ka Naya Swaroopâ, âBhagyalaxmiâ, etc.
He also join the Anna Hazare âs campaign against corruption in 2011.
