Telgi Stamp Paper Scam

Anil Gote was accused of helping Abdul Karim Telgi
in making fake stamp papers in 2003 in various parts of India. On 30 June 2003,Ā Gote was arrested and charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). It was later alleged that Gote had used his political power to help Telgi obtain permission from the Maharashtra government to sell these fake stamp papers. Gote was held in custody at the Yerwada Central Jail in Pune. Investigations revealed Gote's close relationship with Telgi
, dating back to the early 1990s. Gote had even made Telgi a trustee in his public trust called Kisan Trust. There were allegations that Gote and Telgi had once travelled together to New Delhi on the same flight and spent a few days in a hotel. , of planning to weaken local mass leaders within the BJP. Gote alleged that the BJP's defeat in the 2019 legislative elections was a result of a group he referred to as the 'Varsha Night Club Gang,' which was a reference to the meetings held at Fadnavis' official residence, known as 'Varsha' and said,
