Some Lesser Known Facts About Amrit Paul
In 1998, Amrit Paul was appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Bhalki in district Bidar, Karnataka. He then served as the Superintendent of Police of Udupi, Karnataka, from June 2000 to July 2003.
He served as the Superintendent of Police of Bidar, Karnataka, from July 2003 to November 2004.

In November 2004, Amrit Paul was appointed as the Assistant Inspector General of Police (crime). He served in the position till August 2006.
In August 2006, he was appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Ballari in Karnataka. He served in the position till May 2008.
Amrit Paul served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP; Internal Security) of Bangalore from 2012 to 2014.
He was appointed as the Inspector-General of Police in Western Range (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru) of Karnataka in 2014.

In October 2021, over 54,000 candidates took the exam for Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) positions. In January 2022, when results were announced, some candidates claimed that there were problems in the selection process.
Amrit Paul, who was designated as the Additional Director General of Police, was in charge of recruitment when the scam happened.
After his involvement was discovered in the scam during the initial investigation, he was transferred to the Internal Security Division as an ADGP.
In 2022, Amrit Paul was arrested in the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam in Karnataka.

During the investigations, the police revealed that he reportedly took Rs. 1.35 crore from candidates for PSI posts.
The CID seized Rs. 41 lakh from Amrit Paul’s junior, Shambhulinga Swamy.
He, as ADGP of the recruitment department, reportedly allowed his junior Deputy Superintendent of Police Shanthakumar and his team to commit a scam in recruiting for 545 posts.
Later, some police officers such as Sunitha Bai and Manjunath confirmed Amrit Paul’s involvement in their police statements.
However, he claimed the scandal happened without his knowledge and refused to receive any money.
During the investigation, the CID found that Amrit Paul gathered many properties near Bengaluru in his father’s name, Netaram Bansal. Amrit Paul bought a farmhouse on a 4-acre land at Hosahudya village in Nandi Hobli, Chikkaballapur taluk in Karnataka.
He also bought 8 more acres next to his farmhouse in Nellappanahalli village in Sidlaghatta taluk, Karnataka.
During his service, Amrit Paul had purchased two houses and land in the name of his father, Netaram Bansal, in Haryana.
