  • He liked playing cricket since his childhood and often played with his friends in his village.

  • On 21 September 1997, when he was studying in the 2nd standard, an accident happened to him in which he lost his arms.

  • He went to serve lunch to his elder brother who worked on a sawmill machine and started playing cricket when his jacket got suddenly pulled inside the arms of the machine.

  • Before he could realise the situation, his arms were pulled in and cut after which he was taken to the house.

  • He was later taken to the Indian Army camp in Anantnag from where he was taken to Joints and Bone Hospital in Barzulla, Srinagar.

  • He spent 3 years in hospital before his recovery. His father had to sell off their agricultural land and sawmill machine to pay off the expenses of his treatment.

  • When he came back from the hospital, he did not want to go to school; however, his grandmother, Fazi, convinced him to attend school.

  • When he was in 7th standard, he once went to his neighbour’s house to watch a cricket match between India and Pakistan; however, he was kicked out. He found a hole in the wall to watch the remainder of the match.

  • He once went to a walnut orchard where he asked a man for some walnuts who refused. In anger, he threw a stone at a walnut tree due to which some walnuts fell. He sold those walnuts and bought pens for his studies; he wrote using his leg.

  • In an interview, he credited his grandmother as his pillar of strength. He said that she devoted her life to his help and always told her to never be dependent on others.

  • He was once returning from his school when his pants came off. He jumped into a nearby ditch and asked a passerby to help him who refused. He waited till evening after which he held his pants by his neck and came back to his home.

  • When he was in his teens, he jumped into the Jhelum River and was about to drown before a woman rescued him. He later observed ducks and started swimming using his legs.

  • He later learnt to eat using a spoon with his legs, use mobile phones, and shave with his legs.

  • One of his college teachers was impressed with his passion for cricket and encouraged him to pursue a cricket career.

  • Lone has played cricket in several para-cricket leagues in various cities across India including Delhi in 2012, Lucknow in 2015, Kerala, Mumbai, Gujarat, and Hyderabad.

  • He has also played for Sharjah in Dubai Premier League and international matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh. He also captained the Jammu & Kashmir para cricket team.

  • Many Indian cricketers have praised Lone for his determination. In 2016, Ashish Nehra invited him to watch the semifinal of the 2016 T20 World Cup between India and West Indies in Mumbai.

  • One of the best moments of his cricket career came during a local match in Kerala when he scored 25 runs in 18 deliveries after which opposition players picked him up on their shoulders and shouted slogans in his praise.

  • In June 2021, RAMKY Infrastructure employed him under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on a monthly honorarium of Rs. 12,000 a month.
