Altaf Raja is an Indian Qawwali singer who is known for singing the song âTum To Thehre Pardesiâ in 1997. In the 1990s, his first song âTum To Thehre Pardeshiâ sold around 70 lakh cassettes in one night. The song was included in Guinness World Record because it sold the highest number of cassettes at that time.
He started his music training at the age of 18. He was inspired by his father who was also a musician. He always wanted to become a qawwali singer and never wanted to work as a playback singer, but his mother suggested he worked hard at every opportunity he got.
He has sung popular Hindi songs for albums including Dil Ke Tukde Hazaar Huye (2000), Taaza Hawa Lete Hain (2001), Tere Ishq Ne Maalamaal Kiya (2006), Ashqon Ki Baraat (2012), and Ae Sanam (2020).

He has worked as a playback singer for the songs âIshq Aur Pyar Ka Maza Lijiyeâ for the film Shapath (1997), âHayo Rabba Pyar Ho Gayaâ for the film Tirchhi Topiwale (1998), âTumse Kitnaâ for the film Company (2002), âJholu Ramâ for the film Ghanchakkar (2013), and âDil Laganaâ for the film Hunterrr (2015).
He has acted in Bollywood films like Shapath (1997), Yamraaj (1998), Mother (1999), and Ghanchakkar (2013).

In 2015, he announced that he was making the second part of his song âTum To Thehre Pardeshi.â In an interview, he talked about this and said,
Iâm busy working on part two of âTum To Thehre Pardesi.â There will be a minimum of four to five songs and the album will release before Diwali. The songs are very melodious and Iâm sure people in metropolitan cities will like it.â
In 2021, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood took to Instagram to announce the remake of the song âTum To Thehre Pardeshiâ starring him and Nidhi Agerwal .
On 3 January 2023, it was reported that Altaf would appear as a guest on the Kapil Sharma Show along with other singers Suneeta Rao , Shweta Shetty, Shabbir Kumar , and motivational speaker Gaur Gopal Das .
