In June 2023, a public scandal unfolded involving Jyoti Maurya, an SDM, and Manish Dubey, a Home Guard Commandant posted in Ghaziabad. Jyoti's husband, Alok, came forward and accused her of infidelity with Manish. In an interview, Alok revealed that he was informed about their extramarital affair by Manish's wife back in 2020. According to Alok, Jyoti and Manish initially connected on Facebook.


When confronted by Alok, Jyoti vehemently denied the allegations and demanded concrete proof. Alok claimed that he decided to investigate further and followed Jyoti to Lucknow on a work-related trip. To his dismay, he witnessed Jyoti meeting Manish at a hotel called Myriad, where they allegedly spent the night together. The following morning, Alok confronted Jyoti, who confessed her love for Manish. Alok also accused Jyoti of threatening him with filing false charges, including rape allegations, against him and his family. Alok provided evidence to support his claims, including WhatsApp conversations between Jyoti and Manish that contained intimate messages.


Additionally, he presented a diary allegedly kept by Jyoti, documenting bribes she had accepted during her tenure as an SDM. Alok sought assistance from Yogi Adityanath
, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and lodged a complaint with the police, but no action was taken against Jyoti. In response to the allegations, Jyoti maintained her innocence and declared her intention to defend herself in court. She counteracted by filing an FIR against Alok and his family members, accusing them of dowry harassment. The Director General of Home Guards, B. K. Maurya, ordered an investigation into the matter. Although rumors circulated about Jyoti's suspension from her position, official confirmation was yet to be obtained.
