Some Lesser Known Facts About Alex Consani
Alex Consani was born a boy and started wearing feminine clothing at the age of four. She is transgender and she came out with her identity to her parents when she was just 8 years old. She was quoted saying in an interview that
I was about three or four years old when I noticed that I was attracted to girlsâ clothes. So I slowly started wearing girlish clothes and became who I am today.â
When she told her parents that she was transgender, her parents were very supportive of her identity and they even sent her to a trans summer camp in California.
As a child, Alex Consani used to do gymnastics and ballet but she later quit both of them to pursue a career in professional modelling.
She decided on the name âAlexâ at the age of eight and underwent hormone replacement therapy during puberty.
She used to watch Victoriaâs Secret Fashion Shows during childhood and that is how she got interested in modelling and she always dreamed of walking on the show as one of their models.
Her mother found an advertisement on Facebook for Slay Model Management which is a Los Angeles-based modelling agency made up entirely of transgender models. Thatâs how Alex Consani started modelling in 2015 when she was 16 years old and became the worldâs youngest transgender model at the time.
At the age of 13, Alex was featured in a photoshoot with the Tobagonian-American actress, author, and model Dominique Jackson.
Alex Consani moved to New York at the age of 18.
In 2019, Alex signed a modelling contract with a New York-based global sports, fashion, events, and media company named âInternational Management Groupâ.
She started using TikTok in 2020 and started posting Gen Z-focused comedic videos during the COVID-19 pandemic under the username âcaptincroookâ while using her name as âMiss Mawmaâ and she became popular online, earning over three million followers by 2024.
In 2021, Alex Consani began attending Pace University with the help of the Petaluma Educational Foundation after receiving an Alphabet Soup Thrift Store Scholarship and a MacIlvain Family Scholarship.
In the same year, she made her runway debut in New York City for the American luxury brand named âTom Ford.â
She started getting many modelling offers after her âTom Fordâ runway show which is why she had to drop out of her university in New York and pursue modelling full-time.
In 2022, Alex Consani was included on GLAADâs 20 Under 20 list which honors âoutstanding young LGBTQ changemakersâ for that year.
She also walked in runways for Versace and Alexander McQueen during the Fall/Winter of 2022.
In 2023, Vogue named her as one of the standout models of Spring/Summer of 2023 during which she walked on runways for many different American luxury brands including Boss by Hugo Boss, Burberry, ChloĂŠ, Roberto Cavalli, and Coperni.

In the same year, she was featured in Victoriaâs Secretâs reimagining of their Fashion Show âThe Tour â23.â
In 2023, Alex became the face of Jean Paul Gaultierâs collaborative collection with London-based brand âKnwls.â
In the same year, she was included on the Forbes Top Creators Fashion 50 list where she had the highest engagement rate on the list at 21.5%. Alex was also described as having âsignature bleached hair and brows.â
In 2024, Alex Consani was named âModel of the Yearâ at the British Fashion Councilâs Fashion Awards which was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She became the first openly transgender person to win the esteemed title.

On 15 October 2024, Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender models to walk in the Victoriaâs Secret Fashion Show. Sharing her experience of the same, Alex was quoted saying in an interview that
That was so fierce. Victoriaâs Secret as a trans person â I never thought that would be something that would ever be in my books.â
In the same year, she was cast in the music video for the English rap song titled âOkayâ which was sung by the American rapper JT.
