Alaina was legally adopted by Eminem and Kimberly Anne Scott before her mother, Dawn Scott, died of a suspected drug overdose. Dawn was the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife Kimberly Anne Scott. In an interview, while talking about Alaina’s adoption, Eminem said,
I have full custody of my niece. My niece has been a part of my life ever since she was born. I and Kim pretty much had her, she’d live with us wherever we were at.”
