  • Aftab Singh was born and brought up in Faridkot, Punjab.  

  • He belongs to a below poverty line (BPL) family of Faridkot, Punjab.

  • In 2017, he took part in the reality TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs. He reached the Top 7 and was subsequently, eliminated from the show.

  • In 2017, he took part in another reality TV show, “Music ki Pathshala”.  

  • His family was not very strong financially. They used to live in a Dera (a religious camp) near their village. As his family was very poor, the people of his village collectively allocated them a land of 0.25 acres. After that, his father, Mahesh Singh, took a loan of Rs. 2.75 Lacs to build a 2 bedroom house, and to support his son’s dream of pursuing a career in singing.

  • When Salman Khan  appeared as a guest in Rising Stars, he got so moved by his singing that he announced to pay Rs. 2.75 Lacs to Aftab’s family for the repayment of the loan that Aftab’s father took for supporting Aftab’s singing career.

  • Aftab used to sing devotional songs with his father in religious functions from a very young age. 

  • He used to actively participate in his school’s singing competitions. 

  • In 2018, he received an award from the famous choreographer Saroj Khan on the TV show- Mesmerizer Mega Dance Show.

  • On 8 June 2019, he was announced as the winner of the popular singing reality show- Rising Star (Season 3). He received a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakh and the winner’s trophy. He received 91% of the total votes because of his amazing performance in the grand finale.
