Some Lesser Known Facts About Dinesh Kumar Tripathi
Dinesh Kumar Tripathi did his primary education in his village in a local school.
In 5th class, he enrolled at the Sainik School in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, after passing an all-India exam.
In school, he performed well academically and never received punishment.
He appeared for the entrance examination of the Pune-based National Defence Academy after completing his schooling. At NDA, he opted for the science stream and became part of the Naval Academy.
After completing three years of rigorous military training, Tripathi joined the Indian Naval Academy (INA), where he completed the military training module.
Tripathi is considered to be an expert in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
He was declared the best student at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and was awarded the Thimayya Medal.
For standing first in the order of merit at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was awarded the Robert E Bateman International Prize.
Under his command, INS Kirch received the flag of honour in 2005 from President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam during a fleet review.
At INS Mumbai (D62), a Delhi-class Guided-missile destroyer, Dinesh Tripathi served as an executive officer.
He received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019 while commanding the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet.
On 20 November 2019, the Indian Naval Academy was declared one of the finest military institutes in India and was honoured with the President’s Colour, the highest honour a military training establishment can receive from the government.

He has participated in and led different fleets of the Indian Navy in various international naval competitions and reviews.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi , the former Northern Army Commander, is Dinesh Tripathi’s classmate and a good friend.
He played an important role in the completion and testing of India’s first indigenous aircraft career INS Vikrant.
