  • Terry Jenner recognized Rashid’s cricketing talent when he was 14 years old.

  • Rashid’s family is from Pakistan. His family migrated to England in 1967 from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.

  • In 2005, during his early days in English cricket, Rashid took 6 wickets for Yorkshire’s Academy at 17.

  • In 2006, Rashid debuted in the County Cricket against Warwickshire at North Marine Road, Scarborough, replacing the Australian batsman Darren Lehmann who was injured; he played a major role in Yorkshire’s victory in the match by taking 6 wickets for 67 runs.

  • Rashid scored four consecutive centuries for the Yorkshire Second XI in 2006.

  • Rashid scored his maiden first-class century in 2007 against Worcestershire at Kidderminster.

  • In the 2007 English cricket season, Rashid was the highest wicket-taker for Yorkshire in first-class cricket where he took 43 wickets with a bowling average of 42.16, he also scored 837 runs with a batting average of 44.05 making him the fourth-highest scorer of the team.

  • In 2009, Rashid was included in England’s squad for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 as a replacement for Andrew Flintoff who was injured. He played 4 matches in the tournament and took 3 wickets at an average of 31.66 and with an economy of 7.30 runs per over.

  • In 2010-11, Rashid finished the county season with 732 runs at a batting average of 45.75 and 57 wickets at a bowling average of 31.29. He even took 26 wickets for Yorkshire in the 2010 Friends Provident t20 tournament where he was the highest wicket-taker among his teammates and fourth most in the tournament.

  • In 2015, Rashid returned to England’s ODI squad for the series against New Zealand. He scored 69 runs in the first match of the series which involved a record partnership of 177 runs with Jos Buttler . He also took 4 wickets in the game and ended up with 8 wickets in the series playing all five matches.

  • In 2015, Rashid took 7 wickets in the ODI series against Australia and ended the series as the highest wicket-taker of his team.

  • In November 2018, Rashid became the Ambassador for the Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal charity, a Yorkshire-based organisation that mostly operates in the Punjab region of Pakistan.

  • Rashid has a unique record to his name of taking five wickets along with scoring a century in each match on three different occasions in a first-class season.

  • In 2019, Rashid retired from Test cricket due to a shoulder injury. The other reason he stated for leaving the test cricket was to focus more on white-ball cricket.

  • Rashid was part of the England teams that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. He took 11 wickets in the 2019 World Cup.
