| Controversy | His song, Parveen, made him face a lot of criticism by a columnist, Javed Chaudhary, for using a common Pakistani female name in an odd way. A girl then wrote to Chaudhary that she had stopped attending college because of the harassment caused to her by fellow male students by teasing her with Abrar's song. The matter was then taken to the Pakistan Supreme Court, which ordered Abrar to change the lyrics. In the response, he said he would follow what the court says. |

Although Abrar was born in Faisalabad, he has lived at a number of places throughout his childhood, because of his father being a civil servant.
Upon completing his masterâs, Abrar went on to become a teacher of Geography at Pakistanâs one of the most reputed institutes, Aitchison College, before realising that singing was his true love.
Abrar came up with his first music album âBillo De Ghar,â in 1995, which has sold over 16 Million copies.
He is the founder of a charitable organization, âServices Aimed at Health and Awakening in Remote Areasâ (SAHARA), or Sahara for Life Trust, which takes care of health and education of people living in the remote areas of Pakistan.
He was awarded the Lux Style Award for Best Singer in 2002 and 2003.
In 2003, his trust set up its first large-scale hospital, Sughra Shafi Medical Complex, in Narowal, for the people who faced a lot of problems while transporting patients to the bigger cities for treatment.
Abrar joined the political world with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf in December 2011 and serves as their Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
He contested the 2013 general elections as a member of PTI, but lost to Ahsan Iqbal of Pakistan Muslim League-N, by a margin of over 44 thousand votes.
His trust opened its first medical college, Sahara Medical College, in Narowal, in 2016. The college gave admissions to a hundred students for its first graduating class.
Abrar has also served as the Chairman of Youth Parliament of Pakistan, a project launched in 2007 to expose the youth of Pakistan to the democratic process and practices and engage them in healthy discourse.
