Abhijay Negi is a Delhi-based Indian rapper who is known by his stage name Encore ABJ. He, along with Siddhant Sharma, popularly known as ‘Calm,’ formed a hip-hop duet “Seedhe Maut” in 2016.
Since childhood, he wanted to become a rapper. During his college days, he started rapping with the rappers such as MC Kode, RAGA, and Yungsta.
He created his YouTube channel in October 2014 and started uploading his rap songs. Some of the songs that he uploaded on his YouTube channel include ‘Painting A Picture: Bhed Ya Bhediya’ (2015), ‘Dilli Darshan’ (2015), ‘HI RAM’ (2018), and ‘Ghar Pe Raho’ (2020) in which he spread the message among the people to stay at home in the pandemic of Coronavirus.
In 2016, he met Siddhant Sharma (Calm) in an underground rap battle in Delhi. The boys started recording rap together, and they later decided to work on a larger project and formed the hip-hop duo “Seedhe Maut.” The duo mainly include the topics like Indian society, politics, romance, and the education system in their raps.

Their duo’s name Seedhe Maut is basically a slang that is used by Siddhant Sharma’s elder brother to convey ‘rock it’ or ‘nail it.’ In an interview, Abhijay Negi (Encore ABJ) talked about this and said’

No half measures. Give your everything towards that any one thing that you want to do in life. That’s what we stand for. That’s what the name Seedhe Maut stands for, That’s what our music stands for.”
Their debut mixtape, “2 Ka Pahada,” which they uploaded on their YouTube channel in 2016, includes seven tracks. Some of the notable tracks from the mixtape are ‘Seedhe Maut Anthem,’ ‘Royalty,’ ‘Classsikh Maut,’ and ‘Hanging On.’

In 2018, the duo signed with an independent record label, Azadi Records, and released some hit singles such as ‘Kranti’ (2018), ‘101’ (2019), ‘Dum Pishaach’ (2020), and ‘Do Guna’ (2020).

Their debut album, “Bayaan” (2018), produced by ‘Sez on the Beat,’ includes twelve tracks among which the most notable are ‘Shaktimaan,’ ‘Meri Baggi,’ ‘Pankh,’ and ‘Kyn.’ According to the rappers, the album is based on the true incidents of their life.

In an interview, Abhijay Negi (Encore ABJ) revealed that his favourite tracks from his debut album were ‘Kyu’ and ‘Pankh.’
His track ‘Drifting’ (2017) is a collaborative work with rappers Frappe Ash and Yungsta.

In 2021, they released the album “न,” which includes ten tracks. The initial letter of the title of each track of this album is ‘N’ like ‘Namastute,’ ‘Naamcheen,’ ‘Nadaan,’ and ‘Natkhat.’
Their album “Nayaab” (2022) is a collaborative work with ‘Sez on the beat,’ consisting of seventeen tracks, and some of the album’s most notable tracks include ‘Toh Kya,’ ‘Anaadi,’ ‘Maina,’ ‘GODKODE,’ ‘Batti,’ and ‘Teen Dost.’ According to the rappers, the album “Nayaab” tells the story of the success they gained after the release of their debut album, “Bayaan.”

In 2022, the duo appeared as guests on the show “Hustle 2.o” on the channel MTV India. In the same year, they appeared as hosts on the finale of the show “Red Bull Spotlight” on MX Player.
In 2023, the duo performed at a live concert with famous rapper MC Stan and Ikka in the Indian reality show Bigg Boss 16.

Somewhere we got into this genre of music because of rappers like Eminem and Jay-Z who are majorly into lyrical hip-hop.”
