While he was studying in school, he played cricket at the national level.

Since his childhood, he had a keen interest in studying about history and wildlife.
He once shared that he was not good at studies and failed thrice in school. After failing an exam, he went to a nearby movie theatre to watch the Hindi film ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.’ After watching the film, he thought of making his career as an actor.
After dropping out from BBA, he went to Mumbai to meet a casting agent. However, when the casting agent asked him for a casting couch, he returned to Panipat.
Abhay continued auditioning for various modelling assignments. His first TV commercial was for Hero Passion Bike.
He then appeared in various TV commercials. He became popular for his Cadbury advertisement.
Abhay has walked the ramp in Paris Fashion Week.
