A. M. Turaz is an Indian poet, lyricist, dialogue writer, scriptwriter, and director whose body of work spans over 30 Bollywood films and has captivated audiences with his performances in numerous poetry shows. He has gained recognition for his incorporation of Urdu words in his lyrics and his writings on themes related to love and romance.
Growing up in a household where Urdu was spoken, he studied the language within the confines of his own home. His passion for writing developed during his teenage years, and he held a fascination for the allure of the film industry. This led him to make the decision to relocate to Mumbai at the age of nineteen in 2002, with the intention of pursuing a career in the field of writing.

Upon his relocation to Mumbai in 2002, he quickly secured a writing opportunity in 2003 for a television show. He went on to contribute his writing skills to numerous television shows including ‘Lady Inspector Renuka’ and ‘Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka.’
He later established himself as a prolific songwriter, penning numerous memorable songs for various blockbuster films. His notable contributions include ‘Guzaarish’ (2010), ‘Chakravyuh’ (2012), ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015), ‘Padmaavat” (2018), ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (2022), and ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ (2023).

Some of his famous compositions include ‘Kabhi Jo Badal Barse,’ ‘Ghoomar,’ ‘Binte Dil,’ ‘Khalibali,’ ‘Bhula Diya,’ and ‘Jab Saiyaan.’
He has actively engaged in poetry shows (Mushairas) held in various countries across the globe. In 2014, a collection of his poems was published in a book titled ‘Lamhe.’

He holds great admiration for the legendary Hindi lyricist Anand Bakshi.
He shares a strong and supportive friendship with the model and actress Arjumman Mughal. During a challenging period in Mughal’s life and career, when she was battling depression, Turaz stood by her side and provided care and support. check sources

In an interview, A. M. Turaz expressed his appreciation for Bollywood directors, noting that he holds a special fondness for Sanjay Leela Bhansali . Turaz particularly admires Bhansali’s films for their historical and grandeur plots
He has been associated with various committees including the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) and Grameen Mukt Vidhyalayi Shiksha Sansthan(GMVSS), Delhi.
During an interview, he expressed his belief that lyricists and writers often do not receive adequate recognition for their contributions to the entertainment industry; however, he expressed optimism that the situation would change, and these creative professionals would begin to receive the attention and acknowledgement they rightfully deserve. In July 2023, Turaz made an appearance on the popular comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show.
